Creating Foundation Blocks – Part 3

Draw the Foundation Block

Note: This lesson assumes knowledge of how to
draw patches using the polygon tool and the rectangle tool. If you are unfamiliar with
these tools and/or have difficulty drawing the block below, open the Quilt Pro Assistant
(found in the Help menu) and place your mouse cursor over the polygon tool.

8. Set the snap to grid to ensure that the patches line up smoothly.

Using the Rectangle Tool, draw the tree trunk and the two sides.

9. Select the polygon tool to draw the two triangles that make up the
tree.

Next, draw the two side shapes.

10. Repeat steps 8 and 9 for the upper third of
the tree. Notice how the tree sides are aligned, in a straight line for a straight seam.
Count the gridlines in the image for proportion.
11. To complete the tree, draw the side triangles.

Save the block.
